Renault South Africa
Dashboard Cluster "assist"

Cars & Transport

I own a Scenic 2 which, as all my previous Renaults, I bought from Tygerberg Renault in Bellville. About a week ago the dashboard died while I was driving. That means that currently I can't see how much petrol is in the tank, how fast I'm driving, nothing. I can't even hear if the indicator is working or not, I had to physically get out and see if the indicator lights are still, well, indicating!
When I phoned Renault Head Office (Stikland Workshop referred me to them), they denied the Dashboard Cluster was a "recall", it was more of a "assist", and that offer "expired" the previous month. So I have to pay nearly R3000 to have this Cluster replaced.
Renault Head Office knows about this problem Renault models have, and yet they've decided they've "assisted" enough. Not even my dealer notified me about the "recall"/"assist". And all my details they have are exactly the same. This is very unfair, and I simply do not have the means for this sudden expense, and it's very risky to keep driving this way.
