Renault South Africa
Dash Cluster Faulty

Cars & Transport

I currently own a 04 Renault Megan Scenic 2 for the last two years. Recently I noticed that the clock is resetting itself; the electronic dashboard is flashing even when the car is switched off; I get a tyre pressure error even though I don't have that feature; the odometer keeps adding kilometres, -90K; a stop error flashes on the display; and the trip meter resets to zero. After searching on Renault forums I found out that this is a long standing problem with the Scenic affecting many people around the world over a period of many years. I even found that some people have been assisted by Renault replacing the Dash Cluster free of charge because they are aware that this is a known fault with this car. Armed with this information I contacted my local Renault Dealer to rectify my problem. I spoke to Mark at Auto Mall East London. He was very helpful and after providing him with my VIN number VF1JMB0H31798799, he & Renault SA told me that there is NO factory recall for this known fault. I ws not informed of this weakness when I bought the car frm the renault dealer; had I known I would not have bought it. Shame on u Renault you have lost a client & gained bad advertising. Never again!
