Lemon Butta Hermanus
Bad service, bad welcome

I have just had dinner at Lemon Butta in Hermanus. The welcome at the entrance was adequate, our waitress who showed us to our table was armed with menus and wine list and before we even put our bottoms on the chairs plonked them on the table and started chattering at us - whatever happened to getting diners settled before bombarding them with menus, Sushi cards, wine lists and questions - goodness me, slow down, no training here, no awareness on welcoming patrons, unbelievable. Does anyone train these waitrons? This lady had clearly never come across deodorant, the odour was awful. We moved tables, we were in a claustrophic corner, and our new fellow fussed for about 20 minutes, took our order and we never saw him again - he did not pour a glass of wine, enquire about our meal, offer more water, nothing. The whole ambience was 'we are not coping, too busy', glasses being broken, things being dropped, all too frenetic, this was not a grown up, sophisticated atmosphere, and that is what Lemon Butta purpots to offer on its website, they have failed. The food was good, I have to say, pity the service did not finish off the package.
