Ice cream soup

On Friday 04-01-2014 we walked past Bay Leaf on a scorching hot afternoon and saw a customer eating a waffle and ice cream. Tempted we sat down outside and after about 10 minutes a waiter took our order. Half an hour later, he brought the 2 waffles. One was served with a semi-solid ice cream. The second, brought 5 minutes later, was swimming in ice cream soup. I tried to eat it, but how does one eat soup with a fork. So I left it. When the waiter eventually brought the bill, he was extremely sullen and defiant that I had the nerve to complain. He told me there was a problem in the kitchen. Surely that is not my concern? I was totally irritated. The manager was not available for comment. He did not even apologise and could not understand my reasoning when I told him he would have been better off to tell me there was a problem and ask for an alternative order.
