Rotten Lettuce

Started eating my favorite burger the big tasty but it tasted horrible like really really horrible. Opened the burger up and behold rotten lettuce that is already dark brown. What the is this? And at 1 am in the morning there is no way I am driving back now because you cant keep fresh produce in the fridge. Please sort this out!!!
