Absa
Travel insurance not actually included

Business & Finance

I purchased flight tickets on my Absa Cred card and phoned Absa travel insurance to request proof of the travel insurance which is automatically provided when one purchases flight tickets on your credit card. Absa refused to provide me the basic travel insurance on the basis that I am taking chronic medication (for a non threatening medical condition). Absa said that I had to purchase "top up" insurance to the value of R645 before they would provide proof of travel insurance.
What happened to the automatic cover included when purchasing flight tickets with your credit card?
Why am I discriminized against for taking medication?
Why should I disclose any medical information to a bank anyway?
Where does it state that the travel insurance "deemed to be included" is subject to T&C's?
On the other hand - Bestmed stepped up to the party and provided travel insurance without any hassles!
