ATM giving fake notes!!!

I withdrew 300 rand from the ATM on the 21st. I went to the the Waterfront pick and pay and was told the notes are fake and they withheld the money. I went to the branch and after spending most of my morning there was told that they would try and resolve it by getting the money back from pick and pay. I then get told by Fiona that even if they do get the money back they can't verify that it's the same notes that I got from the ATM. So now I'm stuck in the middle, pick and pay is willing to give the money to FNB but FNB stance is that since they can't verify that the 300 rand coming from pick and pay is the same money I withdrew from the ATM there is nothing that can be done. So I'm out of pocket. After years of banking with them to automatically assume that I'm trying to them is very disappointing. How do I get my money back?!!!
