Refusal to return duplicate payment

On 28 March 2013 I transferred a payment from my FNB Cheque account to My loan account. On the same day FNB put a debit order through for the same.
Once I realized what had happened I contacted the loans department to reverse one of the two transactions, they said they would put the request through.
A week later I called again and was told that they have the request but they have a backlog and I just need to be patient.
Today, a week after this, I called another department for the same query and got the same response after being transferred from department to department.
Who has a thousand rand to just waste??!! I cannot believe that they refuse to give my money back.
I am beginning to seriously regret ever moving over to FNB and am considering looking for a new bank
