FNB FORCES ME TO KEEP AN ACCOUNT OPEN!!!

Business & Finance

I have recently opened a savings account with FNB whIle I still have a cheque account. I went to the bank today to close the cheque account as I can no longer afford to keep it open. I explained to the bank that I won't be able to manage two accounts & having the savings account is more economical for me. I was told that the iPad device that I applied for through the cheque account must be settled before. I explained to the bank that they can continue to debit for they payment of that device through my savings account like any debtors would do if they had new account information. I was told that I cannot close that account and they will not take their money from a new bank account. It's not like I'm avoiding to pay for the device, I'm simply changing account. I cannot affort to keep the cheque account open anymore. No more money is going into that account. If I keep it open, it will simply go into the negative balance then the bank will take my account to their lawyers. Is that what they want? By simply refusing to close my account is forcing me to keep the account open. Keep paying monthly chargers for the account that I no longer need. Is banking not about using money wisely? I want to close it
