I had 2 accounts at Standard Bank. I closed my Cheque account on 15 January 2013, but kept my savings account active. Since then I've had calls from a legal dept to make arrangements to settle the balance on my cheque account. I told them every time that I have closed the account on 15 January 2013. Today they transfered money from my savings account to my cheque account. I phoned the number provided in my notification sms, and they said that I have to go to my nearest branch to follow up on the payment. On my arrival there, I asked for the manager. No manager was in sight. I was helped by a clerk. She explained that the funds was taken because of the balance on my cheque account. I explained to her that the account was closed to my knowledge. She then said that she will follow up on this. I am extremely unhappy with this. I would like to close all my accounts with Standard bank. I dont want anything to do with them.
