I have a credit card with Standard Bank which I actually very rarely use. I have NEVER gone into arrears on ANY account I've ever had. Currently I'm on maternity leave as I have just had a baby. I received a paltry amount from UIF and went into arrears of less than R200 for the first time with Standard Bank. As is their procedure I received a call to let me know about the situation. I called back the next day (10 April) to arrange payment asking if they could re-debit my account. They refused, saying I have to go into a branch to pay by the next day. When I said I can't go as my baby is only 2weeks old and the weather is terrible, I was told someone must do it for me. My husband works full time and can't get time off to go into the bank for me. I fully intend to pay the amount in arrears but I expected a tiny bit of understanding and possibly some assistance to make the process easier. I don't believe that's too much to ask. I'm really upset by how the call went. I am seriously not impressed with your service
