Pre Approved - it's like a cheque in your pocket

In January my husband applied for vehicle finance from Standard Bank. He was pre-approved for R250k. He did not take up the matter immediately but after some thought decided he need a new vehicle. The offer was for 30 days so he went into the branch at Northgate. They told him no problem he must just get an OTP. This we did - confident that Standard Bank would do the necessary. On Tuesday nothing, Wednesday morning nothing. Then i get a call from a Zunaid Bhamgee who tells me she is looking into the matter and will get back to me. Exit Zunaid. They then tell us that there is an ITC listing. So naturally we ask if this is the case why the pre-approval. Standard bank then say that the listing was done in the period between the middle of February and Wednesday. I take a look and they are talking absoloute rubbish. So we again ask why the approval. Nobody at Standard Bank can tell us that. they all hide behind the 30 day clause however the only thing that changed in the epriod between the lapse of the offer and now is that my husband got an increase in salary
