On the 19th March, I received a call from Standard Bank saying there was unusual activity on my account and established it was. My cheque account had been emptied. They cancelled my cheque card and said someone would get back to me the next day. I wasn't given a reference number. I called back a day later, and was told to give it three days and was given a number to follow up with. There was never an answer on that number. After three working days, while I was on hold again, I checked my account and the amount was refunded. I went to the bank on the 28th March to pick up my new card. There was on that card too, on the 26th March while it was in the bank's possession. A service consultant tried the line and was on hold for over half an hour. She said she'd stay on the line and I could leave. She called back and said she'd lodged the claim. On the 2nd April, I got a call saying the money was refunded. I checked my statement today - the 3rd April. Not only is there no money in my account, but I'm being charged for a bounced debit order due to insufficient funds. That's absolutely ridiculous! It's over two weeks since the first incident.
