On the 27th January 2013, my husband received an sms on his phone stgating that a transaction took place of R5000 from easy pay. He did not do this transaction and had his credit card in his possession at all times. We phoned the call centre and were told that the transaction had already gone through and they could not reverse it. We told them that we had not done that transaction and that is was and we blocked the card. We opened a case with the police and branch the next day. After investigation the bank has stated that there was another 4 attempts on the same card, but they didn't go through. Why were we not contacted to verify the transaction before it going through. The bank once phoned to confirm if I was using my card on three consecutive occassions, but an internet transaction goes through on a card that has no previous history of internet transactions and they allow it without checking first??? We were told that they were not going to refund us the transaction and I find it totally unacceptable and wrong. They are there to protect the client and they did not! We have forwarded our case to the Obudsman for their review and resolution.
