Standard Bank
Being charged petrol transaction fees

Business & Finance

I have been a Standard Bank customer for the past 20 years. In June I phoned the customer services line and advised them that ABSA does not charge the PETROL TRANSACTION FEE of R3.85 on their credit card and that I would therefore be using that card for my petrol purchases in future. Standard Bank agreed to also waive the petrol transaction fee and I now notice that I have been charged the fee all this time. On enquiry, I was told that this is because I used the PETROL Card (which is ALSO a credit card) instead of my credit card. This is absolute nonsense, nobody made a distinction between using the petrol and credit card. Please credit all of the R3.85 petrol transaction fees immediately, failing which, I shall simply use my ABSA credit card for ALL future purchases. It just takes up TOO much time trying to get decent, honest service out of a bank that is not interested. I have no doubt that I have wasted a quarter of my lifespan just sorting out inefficient and unprofessional service in my dealings with South African companies over the past 40 years.
