Refusing to give me a loan due to my age

I have a fixed deposit in my bank Nedbank and i wanted a loan of 10 percent of my fixed deposit. But my application declined. Reasons said is that my age does not allow me for the loan of a meer R30000. I have been loyal member foe over thirty years when it was still Poeple bank. Permanently employed as a teacher and later a principal. I've retired and get a monthly salary that goes straight into Nedbank. I dont have any other debts like a car or bond and dont understand why. Maybe it would be better to change banks, because mu daughter is not even permanently employed but was able to get a loan.
