Nedbank
Is this even legal?

Business & Finance

I received an sms from Nedbank on Thursday, 21 March 2013 (a Public Holiday) as follows: "Your Nedbank Loan payment of Rxxx will be deducted on 22/03. Missed payment can result in a bad credit record. Tel : 0860103116, ref xxxxx".
My salary gets paid in on the same day of the month EVERY MONTH and it is certainly not before the 25th of each month. What gives Nedbank the right to send me a notification on a public holiday to say they are deducting a debit order off the next day, four days BEFORE my salary is paid in? And this is the coup de grace - when I phoned the number given, an automated voice tells me they are closed and what their working hours are (remember, it was a public holiday). I do believe it is ILLEGAL for Nedbank to deduct a debit order prior to the day of our agreement, thereby causing me bank charges and a bad credit record. Am I right? How do we fight this attitude banks have of doing what they like?
