Sent on a wild-goose chase & have to pay the price

My sister & brother were members of a CC, both had access to funds in a CC bank account, however my brother did most transactions thus he was a custodian of their bank card. Brother passed away in July and no one knew where the bank card was. The CC got a tender in Sep and funds paid into account in Dec. Sister told to approach lawyers who told her we (siblings) all have to sign that we are happy for her to take over & have our 74 year old mother transported from Mapumulo to Durban to sign for money (as if it was in my brother's name only). Sister told to wait for a few weeks while an advert is published on newspapers for brother's creditors to come forward (treated as if its an individual account). After a 3 months of waiting and calling lawyers with no assistance, she approaches the bank and is told that our mother cannot be the recipient of these funds because the account is in the name of a CC. Thi is now in March. Sister starts afresh and follows the CIPRO process. Other than losing employee loyalty due to bing unable to pay them for so long, she now owes lawyers -R8k for having consulted them, which she believes she wouldnt have to pay had she been given correct direction.
