My mother, H Li, had been with ABSA bank since 2002. She has a fixed saving call account with ABSA Mimosa Mall which we normally notify the bank and release funds off it the same day.
On the 18th January we went to Mimosa branch again asking to release funds from the very same account, only to be told me the service desk that the call account no longer exists and that it is now a "32 DAY Notice" account.
We are only getting the funds available in 32 days' time.
NO communications over the years, NO phone calls, NO WARNINGS WHATSOEVER was given to us that a nature of an bank account had changed
This is a huge inconvenience as we release funds for a purpose. This time was to pay my brother's tuition fee.
We were anyways late for the deadline, had to quickly arrange a loan from my FNB account and get charged interest on it until the now "32 day" funds can be released to us.
Thanks so much ABSA for rewarding us with 11 years of loyalty this way. Really, thanks.
