My Mother has closed her bank account and now does her banking through my account as Metropolitan Life continues to debit her for a policy that she cancelled. She had a funeral policy which ceased to pay out once the policy holder turns 65. My Mom turned 65 in January 2002. Metropolitan should have cancelled on their system and cancelled the debit order. My Mom repeatedly contacted them and I did as well. They would cancel the debit order only to re-instate it two months later and double debit. They would send letters informing us that they had been unsuccessful in collecting the premium via debit order and would deduct two premiums so that the 'policy benefits would not be affected negatively.'
She was past the age of 65 so they would not pay out regardless! We would phone, fax cancellation and email cancellation, all to no avail. Premiums have been deducted for 11 years after the policy became null and void.

How is it possible that Metropolitan can employ to manage and control policies for people?
