Incompetence or dishonesty? customer rip-off

Not for the first time, an FNB affiliated service provider, has contacted me, informing me that I owe them money due to arrears. Once again, their own systems and records have proven them wrong, yet they insist I pay the money before I can receive my paid off vehicle's registration papers. Their records clearly show that all payments were maid on time and up to date, yet I am even being charged interest on what they claim to be a full instalment in arrears.
This has happened before (FNB) and after they realised they had made the same mistake, I was refunded LESS BANK COSTS!
Had I not queried this they would have once again taken me for a ride. I wonder how many times I have fallen in this trap and how many of their other trusting customers have fallen in the same trap.
If a non financial person can easily spot the obvious mistake in their books, I cannot honestly believe this is a "mistake" or system error. Coincidentally their so called taped conversations for what ever purposes are no longer available and I cannot get access to these records.
Please help me get them to own up to their mistakes and start treating SA public with a little respect
