ABSA making it difficult

Business & Finance

On 07 February 2013 at 13:37 I went to ABSA teller (ATM Nr 09423) to withdraw money. I did the transaction as normal and my card and transaction slip was returned indicating that R800 was withdrawn. No cash was dispensed. I immediately phoned my the bank and they informed me that the money will be reversed back to my account within 10 minutes. Later I went to the bank as my money was not reversed as they said. I was treated in the most unfriendly manner and was given a bunch of forms to fill in that in it self is a problem for me as I am dislecsic.

Needless to say I did not fill in the forms there as i needed to take it somewhere for someone to help me.

This morning I see the money has been reversed, all but the transaction fee of R13:15. I phoned the bank and they tell me that I must go back to the bank and log a complaint to get the transaction charges reversed. Now I have to take off work and go back to the bank for a second dose of ill treatment? I don't think so!

So my question to ABSA is: If you could detect the problem yourself and reverse my money, why can't you do the same with the transaction fees? Or do you conveniently just keep the money?
