Standard Bank
Insurance Claim Declined On basis of Poor Quality

Business & Finance

Hello Peter

In 2010 I bought a house and was finced by Standard Bank. I have not altered the house in any way they sold it to me and insured it as it is. On Monday we had too much wind in the Pretoria North area and one of the walls of the fence collapsed. I reported the matter with Standard Bank the following day. They referred a Constrauction Company to my house to do inspection. The construction company representative spoke to my maid and wrote a report afterwards to Standard Bank. Two days later I received a call from Standard Bank telling me that my claim was declined because the wall was of poor quality. My serious concern about this is that I have not made any alterations on the property and Standard Bank sent a property evaluator before they approved my bond and I believe the price I am currently pay to them was was on the basis of the quality and other factors of the property. How can they now come back to me and say they will not pay for something they sold to me as it is yet I am paying for it?
