Death claim ive been busy with since last yea

My mother passed awat in december 2011, she had a retirement annuity policy with old mutual that she made me 100% beneficiary of. Ive been busy with this claim since last year faxing and sending through everything they requested of me. Then they sent me an e-mail about another child that was supposedly dependant on my mom, they sent me an affadavit that my mom wrote in 2004 and they wanted to know why i didnt list this other child as a dependant, i explained to them that the child was in no way dependant on my mother as he was in the care of his grandmother after his mother passed away. i do not know my mother's reasons for writing that affadavit but she was not taking care of that child. There is no proof or record of my mother taking care of this child, all they have is this affadavit. They recently sent me an e-mail stating that according to my mother's sister i am an adopted child and they want me to privide them with adoption papers. How am i supposed to provide papers for something i don't know, my mother never mentioned this to me this is stuff thats coming up now after her passing. My mom stated who her beneficiary is yet old mutual is putting me through!
