Why pay insurance if their are no benefits?

While driving on one of our lovely South African roads with my insured double cab Navara I stuck a pothole.
Witch caused major mechanical damaged in my engine on impact. I am now left with a declined claim and a vehicle still out of order since the 20th of December 2013 . So I ask a simple question when did it become the client or insured, actually the person who pays the debit order every month's responsibility
to take photo's and do the job of the claim assessment team. Who in turn about doing the job and assessing the vehicle nether the less saying in an email that they where at the engineering garage and spoke to the mechanic. After we reported that there was no such person at the garage as they alleged, finally a month after the incident was reported a forensic Mechanic was sent to investigate the vehicle, According to his finding my vehicle was damaged before impact... But I have a full service history and maintenance is done
on a regular basis at our local Nissan agent and according to them this engine was in an immaculate condition. Are they liars to? Nissan has nothing to gain by reassuring me my vehicle's engine is fine. So is this how CIB insurance operates?
