Bp Southern Africa
Bp garage causing engine flooding and breakdown

Cars & Transport

Driving back from Port Edward to Johannesburg we stopped for petrol at the Ridge Oasis garage in Catoridge. We had 2 vehicles, a Nissan bakkie and my ford fiesta. While I did not need to put much petrol in my car to get me back to Johannesburg as the car was mostly full up (150 rand) my girlfriends father (who owns and was driving the bakkie) had to put over 400 rand in his vehicle.

100 km outside Johannesburg in the pouring rain his bakkie lost all power and completely broke down. We had to get the car towed back to their house, where the car needed to be repaired. On emptying the engine, rather than petrol coming out of the car, a green substance instead had flooded the engine. The engine needed to be taken apart by a professional and even once a mechanic had finished with it there was still this substance coming out of the vehicle.

This was all at big expense for my girlfriends father.

We would appreciate someone getting in touch with us. We are unhappy because of the money we have had to spend on the vehicle and are worried that this sort of breakdown due to incompetence of staff could cause a major accident in the future.

We would not recommend anyone using this garage
