Business & Finance

After numerous problems with Absa, I was finally convinced to change to FNB. I did my application over the phone about two weeks ago, hoping that I would not have to set foot in a branch but as it happened I was told that I would need to pick up my card there because I will have to provide proof of residence and my I.D.
I asked the person on the phone whether my lease agreement will be acceptable, as all my accounts come to e-mail, and they said it would.
I went there yesterday to pick up my card and was told that it was not acceptable and that I would need to get my housemate to fill in a form saying I live with her, and provide a new telkom bill.
I did this and brought them in today and was told this is not acceptable because I need a copy of her ID (no one said this yesterday). I told the lady that my housemate is from the UK and doesn't have an ID, only passport. I was told this is not acceptable at all and that I need a form from my employer saying I live where I live. I am seriously considering cancelling my new FNB account if this is how things are looking so early in our relationship. Does no-one actually know what's going on? Luckily I haven't closed my absa accounts yet.
