I don't know what's up with ABSA lately, but it seems they have no people working in their customer service department. Earlier this year I emailed them (I sent my query to two different ABSA email addresses, as well as posted online) and it took them more than 2 months just to answer a simple question, which I eventually figured out by myself long before they bothered to contact me. Now I have a huge problem making an internet banking payment. I phoned the internet helpline for assistance but after 10 minutes no-one answered the phone. Just a feeble automated excuse of "high volume". That was the email excuse too - if you get "high volume" queries/complaints, why not employ more people to deal with the situation? Do you think people have the time to spend hours on the phone when they need assistance urgently? It wasn't always like this: not so long ago the phone was answered within 5 minutes and email responded to within 3 days. But this year ABSA obviously decided to cut down on efficiency. Pathetic
