Won't close Saving Account

In 2012 after September sometime I went to the branch to close a saving account which was inactive for quite sometime. I was told to do so I needed to pay an amount of R38 or R48 and couple of cents if i remember correctly, to which i did. Since i had the 'notifyme' service I kept receive the balance of 0.00 on daily basis which I assumed was going to come to an end since i closed the account pressumably. I called ABSA Customer Care to enquire about the status of the account which i was told it was still active. Following up on this 1/02/2013 i went to the bank to enquire and was told that it is still active and not only that, there's an amount being charged for the internet service which was accumulating and had a total of -R140, which as small as it is i refuse to pay. Why should i pay for the bank's incompetence? What's even more annoying was that the consultant asked me for proof, when she can just check on her system when last payment was made. I went to speak to the bank manager and explained the whole thing to him to which he apologised and assured me that it would be closed. I'm still getting these 0.00 smses nothing notifying me of closure.
