Storm damage to property

On 13-12-13 Greytown experienced a massive hail storm, I was out of town and the hail stones had caused 21 windows to shatter. Resulting in water and hail flooding the lounge and dining room area. We were contacted by neighbours and rushed back home from pietermaritzburg. The lounge set and various other goods were water damaged. Miway insurance was unable to visit the property as their contractors were closed due to the festive season. The accessors had only visited to assess the furniture on 08-01-14 almost one month after the storm. The sofas were water logged which was not visible as it had dried up. The assessors had picked up the lounge set to check for structural damage on the 14-01 and was informd that there wasn't any structural damage and thes sofas will be steam cleaned was returned on the 16-01.When we lifted the cusions you can clearly see the water marks and the wood is expanding. The sofas have a terrible odour. We pay insurance for a reason, we didn't ask the insurance company to wait almost a month to come out and assist. This is ridiculous knowing that once water gets into wood that it will not cause damage. After a few months when the sofas eventually give up. THEN WHAT???
