Nimble group promised removal of default but

I had a debt I was paying off for a while with the the Nimble group.
Was approached by Shelly to settle the debt as part of an end of year promotion. Was offered a discount settlement which I accepted but on condition they remove the default against my name.
I have an email confirming it is paid up as well as an sms thanking me for my payment.
This week I applied for a new service from FNB today and was declined due to a default on my credit profile.
Upon investigating, it that even though I have good credit, it appears they have failed to keep their side of the agreement and have not removed or even noted the default as paid up in full. Looks like they have done NOTHING!!
It still shows that I am in default to Nimble collection services and owe all the money I have now paid.
Having applied and been declined, this will further effect my credit profile and this makes me extremely angry.
Sad how a company is more focused on pulling in end of year revenue than sticking to their promises and clearing peoples names that have paid.
