I had a mechanical breakdown on my vehicle in the Karoo on my way from Cape Town to Johannesburg. The problem was temporarily resolved by a roadside mechanic, which got me to Johannesburg. It turned out to be a small ignition failure, but a costly fix. I had no concern at all as the vehicle was covered by a mechanical warranty, or so I thought. I contacted Warranty Solutions yesterday - and wow what a bad experience. I tried to explain my problem to the consultant (unfortunately did not get his name) as best as I could. The gentleman immediately referred me to a spesific clause in the policy, and made it, without many words, very clear to me that the spesific item is not covered. The consultant did not even try and find out more about the problem or refer me to a mechanical specialist - it was bluntly made very clear to me that the item was not covered, based on my limited explanation. (unfortunately lost my cool at this point with the consultants poor attitude - was already traumatised by my mishap in the middel of nowhere, the cost of the repair and now I got this blunt attitude and unwillingness to suggest any alternative solutions).
