Discovery Insure
Discrimination against Bipolar Disorde

Business & Finance

I applied for Severe Illness cover and Accident Cover with Discovery Insure. It was declined on the basis that I have Bipolar disorder and that I have had multiple admissions to hospital. 3 Admissions was the result of Discovery Health reducing my benefits in 2012. This is pure discrimination. I have no other Heart, liver, lung, diabetes, hypertension, raised cholesterol or other severe illnesses. I have been stable for almost 1.5 years now and have been on the same medication (just less) since 2007. I am only taking Geodon, Epitec and Valdoxane. I am sure that my Psychiatrist was not consulted. I function on a very high level. You can contact Dr Pierre Nel and get the information. What does other severe illnesses have to do with Bipolar. And why not even accident cover. I do not need Life cover. My work pays 4 times my yearly salary in life cover. But I only have one time my yearly salary in disability. I am going to use all avenues possible to get cover. This is discrimination against a Mental Illness. And it is not acceptable
