First National Bank
BANK POLICY DIFFERS FROM MR STEVE HIGGINS STATEMEN

Business & Finance

According to a newspaper article, it is illegal for a business not to accept legal money. It further states that the old R200 notes are still legal.

The Reserve Bank spokes person, ms Hlengani Mathebula, said in the article there is a misunderstanding between the Banks and the Reserve Bank about the notes, and some banks are under the impression they may not take the notes.

Spokesperson, Mr Steve Higgins for FNB said in the article such notes can be changed or deposited at any FNB branch.

As business, I was obliged to accept such notes from a client, showing me the newspaper article dated 12 May 2013.

When I tried to change it at the FNB Olympus branch in Pretoria, they refused to accept it.

Can you trust Mr Steve Higgins as spokes person, or is it the branch that is not in line with the FNB policy...?

Whatever, ...bad news.
