My first visit to the new digital makeover of Nedbank Cavendish Square was a dream. Met at the entrance, asked my purpose, given a ticket, 5 minutes later was in a cubicle being attended to. I urged my daughter to go there today and had quite the opposite treatment. No greeting, so we guessed the category of her request, got a ticket and sat down - for an hour. As we spoke to fellow customers we found that one had been waiting for nearly 3 hours, one for almost 2. (These were the E tickets - E for Eternal Enquiry? No E tickets were being dealt with on the display board). I accosted a supervisor, who wasn't prepared to offer any explanation, so I asked her to get the manager. 10 minutes later and they were still in hiding.By then we had been there an hour and 20 minutes, so we left. Is this the new strategy? Draw in customers, give them a ticket, place them on a sofa in front of mindless TV ads and then forget about them? Kafka would have laughed.
