Standard bank insurance is a rip-off

I placed a claim with standard bank car insurance. they called me & asked me to take my car to the panel beaters shop to meet the assessor. i met the assessor outside the panel beaters "marvic panel beaters" & in the parking lot he had a look at my car and within less 5 min the assessment was over, he never looked under the car or opened anything. he sent through the authorisation for my car & this was in november 2012 now its january 31st 2013, i get a call from marvic to say that the shocks on my car are bent which was caused by the accident and the assessor had to have a look at the car again and send through another authorisation which was done. now i get my marvic panel beaters telling me my insurance says i need to pay 60% of the costs for the new shocks as it was not picked up in the first assessment. i already have to pay R2000 access (taxi hit into me) now they also want me to pay an additional R600 for the shocks. i phoned my insurance and they quoted me something out of my contract to say that they have the right to do so.. i mean really this is a rip off. is it my fault the assessor did not do a proper check. this should be Illegal. i cannot believe this service.
