I've bought at Baby City this morning with my debit card. I received an SMS confirming that the amount has been deducted from my account, but the transaction with Baby City was unsuccessful. The personnel at Baby City was kind enough to phone ABSA immediately to find out whether the amount was deducted from my account. The person I spoke to was Gerrit Ackerman and he just said to me that the system shows the amount was not deducted and will be reflecting back into my account within (I think) 24 hours. I wanted to understand why I received an SMS saying transaction was unsuccessful and the new balance of my account! He once again said the system shows nothing was deducted and that I must go to an ATM to verify my balance. This is NOT SERVICE!
Gerrit's attitude and tone of voice was, in my opinion rude and he did not give me any explanations. The more questions I've asked the more I could here he is getting impatient. I was just a customer that was concerned about my money and did not know what to do as I needed the goods at Baby City. I am a client of ABSA for many years, but with people treated customers this way, I don't think I will continue being a loyal customer.
