UNAUTHORIZED DEBIT ORDERS ON MY BANK ACCOUNT

Isipingo Beach Intermediate School has an account with FNB. An amount of R99.00 is being deducted every month from the school account. I have brought this to the notice of the bank and a very unhelpful services manager tells me that the bank is not responsible and all he can do is put a stop order on the payment at a cost of R70.00. He cannot guarantee that the money will not be deducted the following month. Since then, the amount of R99.00 has still been deducted every month.

What terrifies me is that a bank who is regarded as the custodians of the school's account takes no responsibility for unauthorized deductions from the account.

I have to emphasize that no authorization was given for the deduction in writing or otherwise. The problem was brought to the attention of the bank on a number of occasions.

The school funds being deposited into this account is public money and being the Principal of this school, I am powerless to safeguard it.
