Business & Finance

My 18yr old daughter who is at boarding school in Johannesburg received an sms on Friday afternoon from FNB to say her card was blocked because she needed to provide proof of residence. We live on the Wild Coast so some 900kms away so her card is her lifeline to access funds. She went into Killarney Mall branch of FNB with a letter from the school and her ID but was given a whole load of forms which she needed to have signed by the school as she would be considered a 'tenant' of the school because of boarding. They would not give her any money from her account!! They also asked that the school provide their rates bill for her to bring as well to confirm residence?? She leaves this school in 2 weeks time for study leave and then leaves it for good after a month, why would this be considered her residence then?? I tried to ask that they give her money I transfer to them but this could not be done either, although I am a RMB account holder, how do they expect her an 18 year old teenager to get this done without any funds. FNB needs to have a HUMAN element to this as well, not impressed that my daughter has been treated like this and FNB need to resolve without further delay.
