I learnt this Saturday through Absa that Blue Bean (Standard Bank) has listed my husband defaulting in paying off my credit card. What is most shocking is the fact that he has never defaulted and what seems to have happened is incompetency on the part of the customer service yet we now suffer not only the inconvenience but embarrassment of being listed.

In a nutshell, Blue Bean stopped sending my husband statements credit card statements in Feb 2013 (if not earlier). On 28 Aug 13, he sent them an email enquiring about the balance owed so he could settle the balance though til then he was making my monthly minimum payments. Admin forwarded his email to the collections department but to date, we are still waiting for them to respond [SR Ref No : 36420450]. Instead what we found out on Saturday while making a loan enquiry at ABSA is that he has been listed for supposedly defaulting on payments. Interestingly, the date of the listing is 28 Aug - coincidence? I think not! This is a classic case of incompetency on the part of the collections department. My husband was trying to settle his account but has instead been unprocedurally listed! This is in fact illegal and must be corrected.
