My vehicle is under a finance agreement with ABSA since April/May 2012. I signed a linked interest rate. Because prime lending rate has been consistent throughout the past year, my installment remained consistent. End August my installment was deducted as usual but for no apparent reason the amount was nearly R300.00 more than usual. Naturally I contacted them to query this. I was referred from the finance department to the insurance department as Vehicle Finance did not want to take responsibility. They did however tell me that ABSA Brokers decided to insure my vehicle as the finance department has no proof that the vehicle is in fact insured. All of this happened without them contacting me in any form, in other words I did not give permission. I had to eventually send an e-mail with proof of my current insurance, which I have had for over a year, in order to be refunded. They received this proof before I could take the car in 2012. I wrote to the complaints department via e-mail, and the only feedback I got was a request for my account number. The money was refunded a week later (last week). No one from ABSA has attempted to contact me since. Very disappointing ABSA!!
