Standard Bank
Debt review status not removed

Business & Finance

I am an ex-staff member who went under debt review in 2008. I made a number of payments to my debt counselor but for some or other reason these payments never reached my credit providers who then started phoning me demanding payments. I started repayments directly to them and many rejected the debt review status due to non-payment. As a result, interest was being charged when it should have been stopped. When I left the bank, I repaid all my debt. I closed all the accounts except for a savings account. I went to apply for a loan only to find that their is still a debt review status on my profile. I contacted my debt counselor at Leocorp Debt Counsellors who then had my name removed from credit bureau and he sent a form 17.4 to all my credit providers, sending me a copy as well. This was dated 2/9/2013. As of today, Standard Bank still has not removed the debt review status and requested me to send them the form stating that it will take 10 days to remove it. I have e mailed them the form stating that it should be rectified within 24 hours and lodged a complaint with their customer care. If this is how ex-staff is treated, imagine how customers feel.
