A bank who treats customers fairly??? NEVER!!!

30 years of loyal service as a customer of Standard Bank, only to find that your loyalty is only valued by the size of your monthly service fees! I have been a Private banking customer for 10 years. I decided to downgrade the product to Elite 2 weeks ago as the fees were unwarranted. I needed to increase my EAP limit to purchase a vehicle. I logged a secure message on internet banking yesterday 30 hours ago. The query is supposed to be resolved within 24 hours. Yeah right! I called my previous Private banker who refused to assist me and reminded me that I downgraded my account (ie gave me the finger after 10 years!). I call the central call centre number and after 20 minutes, still cannot get through to my bank. I ask for the bank manager's direct contact details - "sorry we are not allowed to give out their direct numbers" as they are.Net result, lost the car I needed to pay for as I couldnt make the payment (funds are available in account). Well done Standard Bank! What a great way to treat a customer of 30 years especially with all the other banks probing to take away your customers... Pathetic!
