Who gave you permission? ABSA

It was noticed that my car instalment went up with almost R800, when my husband contacted ABSA they told him that he did not respond to an "apparent" e-mail regarding proof of insurance (car registered on his name) for a car we have been driving since april 2012, ABSA then took out insurance on his name. We have insurance (for years). This is unacceptable, how can someone take out insurance on your name without approval. And apparently they dont know when the money will be paid back to us. First time calling to find out regarding the matter a coloured lady dropped the phone in his ear, had to phone back a second time to try and resolve the matter. Would like to know what law gives them permission to do this? Have the e-mail they confirmed taking out insurance on our behalf.
