Lifeline Debt Solutions
Isn't debt counselling suppose to be a solution?

Business & Finance

I've been under debt counseling with Lifeline for about 3.5 years and am now starting to get the feeling that they are happy to keep me in debt. They're getting paid, but the debt isn't really.
On the 14th of August I received a call from a lawyer, on behalf of Edcon, saying that they have not received a debt down payment in over a year. I have now had repeated conversations with my debt counselor asking her to help or contact them to see what is happening. The interest is racking up and I am now just getting deeper into debt... what's the point of paying a debt counselor, if I'm still on the phone talking to lawyers and trying to get answers. Each time I phone Lifeline I get told that somebody is looking into it and that they will contact Edcon's representatives. Last Thursday (28 August) I received a third call from the Edcon representative saying that I should at least pay R200 in by the end of August to avoid even more interest building, whilst they wait for the debt counselor to contact them. My debt counselor told me not to make a payment and that she would contact them to next morning and let me know what is happening. It is now Monday and I have still heard nothing. Fed up
