My wife had a tyre burst while driving her BMW X5.Fortunately, her vehicle was fitted with run flats and the vehicle was stopped safely. Only apparent damage was the windscreen and left rear wheel. I called dial direct to lodge a claim. The claims agent told us the excess would be R3700.After the assessor viewed the car he came back with a different story. They would replace the one tyre but I would have to pay betterment of 50%(which I can't find anywhere on my policy document). They will not be replacing the Tyre RIM but repairing it and they will replace the windscreen. They would also send the car to fifth avenue motors (i dont see them on the approved BMW repair list) for the repairs. It suddenly all made sense why the assessor, Peter, asked me if my car was still under motorplan because this shoddy repair plan would not have been approved by BMW. I am not happy with dial direct. This is beginning to sound like a patch repair job. My expectation is a new BMW RIM, two rear tyres and the windscreen replaced. Anything less would be perceived as a half baked job that could result in an injury to my wife and family in the future. I don't want cheap and chirpy insurance when it comes to safety
