8 months and no resolution on home insurance claim

We are loyal Absa customers and over the years we have bought three properties through Absa. Our insurance costs us around R7000 p.a. and we have seldom claimed. 6th Jan 2013 we incurred storm damage to our roof and reported this to Absa. A contractor was sent to our home. We waited for feedback. After many phone calls we were told that a second quote was required. Eventually a second contractor was sent. Whilst we were waiting for a decision rain water continued to pour into our ceiling resulting in extensive damage to our ceilings, wooden floors and carpets. Various items of furniture were also water damaged but we were told that these were not covered. Finally, on the 10th May the repair work began using a contractor appointed and recommended by Absa. When they left on the 20th May the contractors submitted a second quote for the additional damage that they discovered in the course of their work. Three months have elapsed since then and there is still no resolution. Our furniture has been stacked away so that the work can be finalised. Over the past 8 months since this process began I have made numerous calls and sent many emails to Absa, a costly process in time and energy.
