Prescribed Debt - Standard Bank Current Account

DMC are at it again!!
The Sheriff of the court came knocking at my door, i have to sign letter from DMC to that I can pay back my Standard Bank Current Account which I APPARENTLY owe them R12850.98!!!
HOW can a current account get this high? as far as i can remenber there were NO overdraft account!!
I last used the account in 2005, between 2005 and 2013 NOBODY contacted me regarding this account in 8 years!!!
In legal terms this debt has prescribed according to the Prescriptions Act, long ago!!!
Please sort this out!!
