Cancellation of Funeral policy by the bank

Fist of all I want to register my disappointemt at the manner in which they handled my late grandmother's death claim. My grandmother passed on last week Saturday (3/8/13) and she joined standard bank funeral policy since 2003 and she has never missed any payment because the debit order was going off every the 20th of every month so to our suprise when we went to claim on Monday we were told that someone by the name of Jonson (unrelated) to the family cancelled the policy in 2009 and no correspondence was sent to her or us about such cancellation of the policy. It is really disappointing to observe that the Bank can cancel one's policy without contacting the policy holder as well as the premium payer because my late grandmother was paying for her own policy. In a nutshell, Standard Bank indicated that is not gonna pay because someone cancelled the policy and certainly it's not my grandmother nor anyone from the family because all along Standardbank was taking money from my grandmother's account. At first I doubted that insurance companies are but now that I agree with that. You always look for loopholes to repudiate the claim when people are grieving for their loved ones.
