Standard Bank
Deposit fee (R401), which should have been free

Business & Finance

I recently sold my car and unfortunately the buyer paid in hard cash; but i said its fine as i get "one free branch cash deposit per month" because I'm on the student achiever account. I then deposited the money, and the bank happily took my money and didn't inform me about the R401 deposit fee i would incur. Standard bank has no flat fee or limit, it depends on how much you deposit. Fee: R10 1.15% of value being deposited. This is all besides the point. i shouldn't have been charged. I went into the bank, argued with three people and then finally after having download the "price plan 2013" PDF, we all agreed i was right. They assured me i would be refunded and yet i am still waiting, i was in the bank on the 29/07/13. This is really service especially since i always preferred Standard to most banks but i'm seriously considering moving banks now. Since this is the second time this sort of thing has happened. Last time they froze my account, because i deposited too much money, "R38000".
